This is the first weekend after Oktoberfest and the city takes it slow. It will be a rainy weekend and the events are also fitting to the mood. Some film, some concert, some second hand shopping and a good rest to recover from the exhaustion of the last weekends…Seems like a good plan?
The highlight of the weekend is actually the Munich Marathon. It will keep the city busy on Saturday and Sunday. On Saturday there is the famous costume run and on Sunday there are the 10km, half marathon and marathon. I have not included it in the list below but it is good to know about it because some roads will be closed to traffic so avoid driving in the city this weekend.
Here is what’s up in Munich this weekend:
Friday – Sunday: Stroke
Stroke is the Germany’s biggest contemporary art fair.
If you love art, check the festival out to discover new artists, directions and get inspiration.
The festival takes place at Werksviertel by the Ostbahnhof and daily tickets cost 12 Euro.
African Film Days, which take place in Gasteig, show films telling African realities. The stories are about migration for financial reasons, escaping the radical Islamism or return of colonial relics from Europe to Africa which is seen as a sign for positive change of living conditions.
Friday 17:00 – 23:00: Hall of Taste Street Food Market
It is again the first Friday of the month; meaning it is the Street Food Market day! It takes place in the courtyard of Muencher Merkur newspaper. The address is Paul-Heyse-Straße 2-4. For more information about the market check out the blog post at Eat Explore Etc where my fellow blogger Linds wrote about her experience the market.
Friday 20:00 – 23:55: After Hours Jazz Jam Night
Lost Weekend invites you to the Jam night in which you can take part with your instrument or voice or just lean back and listen to the Lost Weekend HOUSE BAND in an evening of bebop classics, fusion headaches, and modern blues masterpieces.
Lost Weekend is at Schellingstrasse 3 and entrance costs 3EUR.
