Hello everyone,

I have again a long list of events this weekend. But the majority of them are on Sunday. So maybe you would like to use Friday and Saturday to rest so you can party whole day on Sunday. Why party? Because it is Fasching baby!

Here is What’s Up in Munich this weekend:

Friday – Sunday: Yesterday’s Tomorrow – Filmseries of Future Visions & Sci – Fi

HFF (University of Television and Film) offers a film series about future visions and sci-fi films to accompany the new exhibition of Pinakothek der Moderne: FUTURO A Flying Saucer in Town.

The movies that are in English are the following:
Saturday 14:00: Blade Runner 2049
Saturday 19:30: Moon
Sunday 14:00: Surprise Film with Doris Day

The films will be screened at HFF Kino 2. The HFF is at Bernd-Eichinger-Platz 1. Check the Facebook event for more information.

Friday 20:00 – 23:59: Munich Sessions

Live music session with Paper Lions and Alex Raphael.  It takes place at the Lost Weekend, Schelling str. 3.  Check the Facebook event  for more information.

Saturday 17:00 – 23:59: Midnight bazar Night Flea Market

Second-hand shopping at night with music and drinks at Reithalle, Heßstraße 132. Check the Facebook event for more information.

Sunday 10:00 – 15:00 : Film and Comic Market

The biggest market for Comics, Videos, Blu-Rays, Games, in Bavaria. There are also exciting Fan-Items, Merchandise, Toys, Posters, Signatures that you cannot buy in stores. It takes place at Tonhalle München, Grafinger Str. 6. Entrance to Comics Area costs 3 Euro, 18+ area included costs 5 Euro.

Sunday 11:00 – 12:00: Peaceful Snowball Fight in English Garden

The last snowball  fight was postponed due to lack of snow, and the new date is this Sunday. Make sure to check the event page before you go out as it might be “again” cancelled due to the weather conditions.

Sunday 11:00 – 13:20: Guided Tour “Ephemeral Urbanism”

The exhibition “Ephemeral Urbanism” covers the new global phenomenon of temporary structures such as Oktoberfest and Burning Man and asks the question how long-term urban planning should be. This Sunday there is a guided tour in English, with Marcelo della Giustina. The tour starts at the information desk in the rotunda of the Pinakothek der Moderne. Participation is free of charge. A ticket for the exhibition is required, which costs 1 euro on Sunday. For more information, check the Facebook event.

Sunday 12:30 – 17:00: Fasching Party in the City

The kick off for the 3-day-Fasching-Party will be given on Sunday. There are 3 stages in the city center where the party will take place: Karlsplatz, Richard-Strauss-Fountain and the Marienplatz.

  • The dance band Piccadilly Sunset Show Band will play at Karlsplatz between 12:30 and 17:00
  • Högl Fun Band, the 10 people band which has been entertaining people in Kupfers Weinzelt in Oktoberfest with Rock and Pop songs, will play at Marienplatz between 12:30 and 17:00
  • Chris Aron Band will play Rockbilly, Country und Rhythm & Blues of 50’s between 12 :00 and 17:00.
Sunday 19:00 – 21:00: Sunday Sessions Gypsy Jazz with Hot Club

Music every night at the Lost Weekend. This time gipsy jazz evening with the Hot Club de M Belleville Jazz Trio! Entrance costs 3 Euro.  The Lost Weekend is at Schelling str. 3. Check the Facebook event for more information.

Sunday 19:00 – 21:00: Rembetico Songs

Do you know Rembetico? They call it the blues music of Greece. If you want to get to know it or if you know it and want some, check out the concert at Salon Irkutsk on Sunday. The entrance is free. The doors will open at 18:00 and the concert will start at 19:00. Salon Irkutsk is at Isabellastr. 4. Check the Facebook event for more information.

Sunday 19:30 – 21:30: Kooks Show

DoAn improvised comedy show that will light up your Sunday evening and make you forget the Monday syndrome. Kooks is at Geyerstrasse 18. Check the Facebook event for more information.
