What’s Up in Munich This Weekend 13 – 15.10.2017

We are very lucky this weekend because the weather is perfect! It is going to be sunny on both days and the temperature will be around 20. So go out, lie on the grass in the parks, sip cocktails in the cafes and bars. go for a walk around the city but do not miss this wonderful weather!

Here is what’s up in Munich this weekend:

Friday – Sunday: Zimmer Frei

Zimmer Frei is an interesting art project that changes two floors of the Hotel Mariandl into an art gallery. The rest of the hotel functions as normal whereas the rooms in those two floors host performances, installations and other types of art.

You can visit the “Zimmer Frei” between  12 – 22 Uhr on the days between 11.10 -15.10 for free except on 14th, when there is the Long Night of Munich Museums. Read more.


Friday – Sunday: Queer Film Festival

This is the second year of Queer Film Festival. The main topic of this year is the new generation. How do young queer people grow up in Europe and around the world?  Check the program in pdf to see the films and the screening times.

Saturday – Sunday: Kirchweihdult

Kirchweihdult, the city fair that is famous for its porcelain items, is back again. There are a lot of stands to buy curiosities, to eat, to drink and a few rides for amusement. You can visit it at Mariahilfplatz.

Fun rides: 10:30 – 19:00

Saturday 10:00 – 17:00: Aktionstag- Being there for Munich

All the way from Karlsplatz and Marienplatz there will be stands of service providers of Munich City presenting themselves, what they do and how they do it.  There will also be concerts all day in two stages: one by the Richard Strauss Fountain on the Neuhauser Strasse and the other one at Marienplatz. Saturday – Sunday 11:00 – 18:00: Stijlmarkt

Stijlmarkt is the market for the design items of clothing, living, and food from creative minds. It takes place at Prater island and you can visit between 11-18. The entrance costs 5 euro online or 7 Euro at the door. More information on the event’s website.

Saturday 12:00 – 13:00: Pop Up Yoga in English Garden

The weather will be sunny and warm on Saturday. Perfect weather for yoga in the open air.

Meeting point is the grass under Monopteros. The lesson starts at 12. Bring your own mat. And if you are satisfied, you can thank your yoga teachers Gina & Terry with a donation.

Saturday 17:00 – 23:50: Night Flea Market and Street Food Market @ Reithalle

Second-hand shopping at night with music and drinks at Reithalle, Heßstraße 132. Entrance costs 3 Euro. For more information, check the website of the event.

Saturday 17:00 – 23:50: Nachtkonsum Flea Market

A popular flea market that involves music with live bands and DJ in addition to the items for sale. It takes place in Tonhalle, Grafinger Str. 6. Entrance costs 3 Euro.

Saturday 19:00 –  Sunday 02:00: Long Night of Munich Museums

In this yearly event, 90 Munich museums are opening their doors to visitors at night. Various bus lines will transport visitors between the museums. You can enter to all of the museums with one ticket, that costs 15 Euro. For more information, check the website of the event.

Sunday 10:00 – 17:00: Outdoor Sports Festival

In this festival, you get to try different outdoor sports like climbing, water-sports, paragliding, mountain-biking with the help of professionals.  The highlight of the event is the flying fox which enables you to slide from Olympiaberg to the Swimming Pool. You can also try Standup Paddling on the Olympia lake or just get into a boat and be lazy.

Sunday 10:00 – 12:00: Doors Open Day at Circus Roncalli

You can check the circus behind the doors and watch the artists rehearsing. You can also ask questions to the team of artists and technicians. There will be music performed by the Royal Roncalli Orchestra and some short program. Circus Roncalli is at Leonrodplatz.
