What’s Up in Munich This Long Weekend 18-21 May 18

Hello everyone,

It is again a long weekend in Munich, with Monday being public holiday. I guess some of you went for short trips out of the city but if you stayed you will not regret it because there are many festivals this weekend. Take a look:

12:00 – 19:00: Street Food Friday

A nice start to the weekend with street food from various food trucks, music and drinks. The street food market is at the Bavaria Loft, Theresienhöhe 7. For more information, check the Facebook event.

Friday – Monday 14:00 – 23:00: Musical Wine Festival

Taste wine from various regions of Germany and Austria and enjoy the music in the amphitheatre of the beautiful Westpark (Seebühne).The opening is this Friday at 16:00, the event starts all the other days at 14:00. While you are in Westpark please take some time to walk around the park because it is beautiful. The entrance to the event is free.  For more information, check the Facebook event.

Friday – Sunday: Kulturstrand

Kulturstrand is the public beach in the middle of the city. If you want to relax, put your feet to the sand and have a drink, it is the place to go! It is at the Vater-Rhein-Brunnen (fountain) just across the Deutsches Museum. There are concerts and live acts on most of the days. The program of this weekend is as follows:

  • Friday 17:00 – 23:00: United Colors of Feierabend: starting the weekend with music and chilled mood on the beach.
  • Sat 19:00 – 21:00: Concert of Crashcaptains- An Indierock band from Berlin will perform at the Kulturstrand.
Friday – Sunday: Wannda Kulturfestival

Wannda Kulturfestival continues with concerts, workshops, flea market and food market. It takes place at Kreativ Quartier, Dachauer Straße 114. The entrance is free. Highlights of this weekend are

  • Friday 18:00 – 22:00 Concerts of Daniel Richter, Affentheater and music cabaret of Föhn und Schotter
  • Saturday 16:00 – 23: 59 Night Flea Market
  • Saturday: 16:30 – 20:00: Concerts of Rob Schröder, Bob Eberl, performance of Plattenunterhalter Hermann
  • Sunday 20:00 – 21:30: Concert of Shavez and Brothers
  • Monday 16:00 – 18:00: Fashion Show for the Fashion Revolution
10:00 – 16:00: Courtyard flea market in Westend

A great idea to do second hand shopping and get to know the neighbourhood. Check the map for the locations.

11:00 – 16:00: Blogger Flea Market

Fashion bloggers are offering clothes from their own wardrobes in this flea market. The advantage of that is, you can already check their taste of fashion on their blogs and decide to go or not. Another nice thing about this market is that it takes place in Eataly where you can have delicious Italian food or drinks in case you don’t find anything to buy, so it will never be a waste of time:) For more information, check the Facebook event.

13:00 – 23:30: Klangfest

32 concerts on 4 stages. And all free. There is an outdoor stage and 3 stages inside Gasteig buildings. To avoid long queues, the free tickets will be given away 1 hour before the start of concerts at the concert halls. For more information check the website of the event.

Saturday – Monday 16:00 – 22:00: Theatron Pfingst Festival 2018

Theatron Pfingst Festival is the outdoor music festival at Olympiapark. From Saturday to Monday international and local bands will be giving concerts on the lake-stage at Olympiapark. Concerts take place between 16:00 – 22:00 and the entrance is free. Check the program of the festival on its website.

08:00 – 14:00: Kater After Hour Flea Market

Sunday flea market at the Lost Weekend, where you can cure your hangover with smoothies, bloody marys and tacos and of course second hand shopping. The entrance costs 2 Euro. Lost Weekend is at Schellingstr. 3. For more information, check the Facebook event.

18:00 – 22:00: Sunday Sessions

A night of unplugged music with Lostboy, modern folk duo from the North who reside in Greenwich and Declan Guckian, an Irish songwriter and musician based in Prague at Lost Weekend, Schellingstr. 3. Check the Facebook event for more information.
