What’s Up in Munich This Weekend 6-8 July 18

Hello everyone,

The weekend started with rain but Saturday and Sunday the sun will show its face and the temperature will be summer-like!

Here is what’s up in Munich this weekend:

Friday 20:00  till next morning : LMU Uni- Summer Festival

The yearly Uni-Summer Festival takes place today! There are various concerts, performances, entertainment, food and drinks. Tickets cost 10 Euro. Check the Facebook event for more info.

Friday – Sunday: Tollwood

The biggest summer festival of Munich has started. If you don’t know Tollwood, it is a huge festival village in Olympiapark with tents, open spaces, free concerts, performances, food and curiosities stalls and much more. This year is the 30th year of Tollwood. For more information check the website of the festival.

Friday – Saturday :Filmfest München

In Munich’s International Film Festival 220 films will be screened, 43 films will do their world premieres. The tickets cost 9,90 Euro and sold online, in Gasteig and the festival movie theatres. For the program check the website of the event. Saturday is the last day of the festival!

Friday – Sunday: Kulturstrand

Kulturstrand is the public beach in the middle of the city. If you want to relax, put your feet to the sand and have a drink, it is the place to go! It is at the Vater-Rhein-Brunnen (fountain) just across the Deutsches Museum. There are concerts and live acts on most of the days. The program of this weekend is as follows:

  • Friday 17:00 – 23:00: United Colors of Feierabend: starting the weekend with music and chilled mood on the beach.
  • Saturday 17:00 – 23:00: Days at the Beach: party with electronic music
10:00 – 16:00: Courtyard Flea Market in Lehel

Visiting courtyard flea markets is a great idea to do second hand shopping and get to know the neighbourhoods. On Saturday you can visit the courtyard flea markets of  Lehel. Check the map for locations of the courtyards.

11:00 – 13:00 : Clothes Exchange “Tauschkultur”

You bring your well kept clothes and exchange with some new clothes. You can bring up to 10 pieces. The time to give your clothes is between 11:00 – 12:30. There is also breakfast starting from 11 am. The exchange will start at 1 pm at Glockenbachwerkstatt, Blumenstr.7. Entrance cost 3 Euro. For more information, check the facebook event.

17:00 – 23:59: Munich Bike night (Radlnacht)

Munich Bike Night invites bike lovers to a 16 km ride around the city. The roads will be closed to car traffic and just made available to bikes.The ride starts at 20:30. The party will start already at 17:00 at Königsplatz and pump up the mood to get bikers ready for the ride. The party will go on at the Königsplatz after the arrival of the bikers.

18:00 – next morning: What’s Golden
  • 18:00 – 22:00 Flea market of hip hop culture. Here are things you can find in the market: records, tapes, CDs, magazines, music equipment, books, sneakers, clothes etc.
  • 19:30- 21:30 : Concert
  • 22:00 onwards: Party with DJ  Performances

The event takes place at Import Export, Dachauerstr. 114 and the entrance costs 4 Euro till 21:00, then 8 Euro. Check the Facebook event for more information.

 

19:00 – Sunday 01:00: Summer Festival in Museum Villa Stuck

You can see the collections in the Museum Villa Stuck this Saturday for free. There will be two screenings of the film Faust Undead at 20:00 and 21:30. There will be a concert at 22:00. Of course there will be food and drinks as well. Check the Facebook event for more information.

14:00 – 19:00: Krims & Krams Flea Market at Bahnwärter Thiel

This is an underground flea market with good mood and good music. You can find fashion items, costumes, props, artworks and interesting stuff to buy or have a look at or just spend time there dancing or hanging out with cool people. The event takes place on Tumblinger Str. 29. For more information, check the Facebook event.

17:00 – 20:00: Open Air Opera “Parsifal”

Bavarian State Opera will be performing “Parsifal” in the opera-building but everyone will have the chance to see it without a ticket through a big screen that will be in the Max-Joseph-Platz. (right in front of the opera building). Bring your blankets, pillows, and food and drink and enjoy the Sunday evening with music.
