What’s Up in Munich This Weekend 14-15 July 18

Hello everyone,

This weekend is….. OMG! The city will be crazyyyy! The highlight of course is the Christopher Street Day! Do not get fooled, it is not a day, it is the whole weekend! Marienplatz will be the festival area all weekend. We have the special once a year event Kocherlball also this week. There is more.

Check the events below:

Saturday – Sunday 12:00 – onwards : Christopher Street Day and Party

It is the Christopher Street Day (CSD) Weekend! One of my favorite weekends in Munich. You should not miss the parade on Saturday. The lively, colourful, crazy parade starts at 12 from Dienerstrasse by Marienplatz.  It will pass from Gaertnerplatz, Frauenstrasse, Tal and finish at Marienplatz.

In Marienplatz and Rindermarkt, there will be party all day on Saturday and on Sunday. There are also special guests: The Weather Girls. Remember their song “It’s Raining Men?”. They will be on stage at Marienplatz at 21:20.

There is clubbing, of course! And in Rathaus!

Check the CSD website for the detailed program.

Saturday – Sunday 12:00 – 20:00: Kunst im Karrée

The artists in Schwabing and Maxvorstadt are opening their studios to the visitors. Check the plan to see the participating artists.

For more information check the websites of the event.

14:00 – 23:59: Türkenstraßenfest 2018

This is the festival of Türkenstraße as the name tells. If you like to hang out with a huge crowd on the street, with a drink in your hand and dance to the beat, check it out. Warning: It gets really crowded! Check the Facebook event for more information.

Saturday – Sunday: Tollwood

The last 9 days of Tollwood! Don’t miss the concerts, various food, drinks and happenings! I was there last Saturday and had the time of my life, especially in the silent disco.  For more information and program check the website of the festival.

06:00 – 10:00: Kocherlball

An old festivity of the city is happening this Sunday at Chinese Tower. This is a party starting at 6 am. It was the ball of the butlers, so they had to do it before the work of the house started. And this tradition continued since the 19th century. Most of the people come already in the first few hours of the new day and set up their tables with candles and food. The music and folk dances start at 6 am. Wear your dirndl/ lederhosen, set your alarm clock and enjoy the party.

10:00 – 16:00: JapanFest

This Sunday there will be a bit of Japan in English Garden with the Japanfest. There will be dance shows of Japanese International School and Japanese Institute, concerts of German- Japanese Choir, japanese jazz dance shows, Japanese drum show, workshops for Japanese arts and crafts and of course Japanese food. Japanfest takes place at Japanese Teahouse in English Garden. Entrance is free. You can see details in the flyer of the event.

Have a great weekend,
