We said goodbye to summer Tollwood last weekend, but this weekend new festivals popped up that don’t let us down. Especially Impark and Theatron which will continue some time and keep the city fun!
Ok, here is what’s up in Munich this weekend:
Friday – Sunday (and during the week): Theatron & Impark Summer Festivals
Theatron is a free music festival and Impark is the summer festival in Olympiapark. They are right next to each other and have the same beginning and ending dates, therefore we cover them as one event here.
At Theatron, there are concerts of international and local bands every day at 19:00 and 20:30.
Impark festival offers food stalls, beergarden, a little amusement park with Ferris wheel and a beach bar.
Opening time of the Impark festival is as follows:
- Monday – Friday 12.00 – 23.00
- Thursday 12.00 – 23:30
- Saturday –Sunday 10.00 – 23.00
Highlights of this year’s Impark festival are the flea markets and the fireworks. There will be night flea markets from 17:00 to 00:00 on 28.7 (which is this Saturday) and 18.8. During the flea market there will also be live music shows, street food and so on. The fireworks will take place on 2.8 and 16.8. See the program of Impark on its website.
17:00 – 22:00 : Courtyard Flea Markets in Maxvorstadt
Visiting courtyard flea markets is a great idea to do second hand shopping and get to know the neighbourhoods. On Friday you can visit the courtyard flea markets of Maxvorstadt between 17:00 – 22:00. Check the map for the locations of the markets.
Friday – Sunday (And during the week): Free & Easy
3-week long free music festival of Backstage started this weekend… The festival tent opens at 18:00 everyday. Backstage is at Reitknechtstr. 6. Check the program of the festival here.
10:00 – 16:00 : Courtyard Flea Markets in Westpark Quartier
Visiting courtyard flea markets is a great idea to do second hand shopping and get to know the neighbourhoods. On Saturday you can visit the courtyard flea markets of Westpark Quartier. Check the map for the locations of the markets.
Saturday – Sunday (and during the week) : Jakobidult
Jakobidult, the city fair, famous for its porcelain items is back again. There are a lot of stands to buy curiosities, to eat, to drink and a few rides for amusement. You can visit it at Mariahilfplatz every day from 10:00 to 20:00
12:00 – next morning: Import/Export Summer Festival
Import Export invites us to its summer festival where there will be creative workshops, music, food and drinks. Check the Facebook event for more information.
Saturday -Sunday 12:00 – 23:59 : Georgenstrassefest
Georgenstrasse is celebrating the summer with an openair party. All the street will be a festival area. There will be two stages with various DJ performances. Check the Facebook event for more information.
Saturday – Sunday (and during the week) Pfälzer Weinfest
Residence is hosting a wine festival. You can try out different wines and enjoy live music. Entrance is free and the festival is open from Monday to Saturday between 15:00 – 23:00; on Sunday between 11:00 – 23:00

14:00 – 22:00: Sound of Munich Now
Sound of Munich is an open air festival that brings you the best of Munich music scene. There will be 20 bands playing, one after the other every 15 minutes. At the end of the festival, there will be a fireworks show. The festival is for free and takes place at Alter Messeplatz. For more information, check the Facebook event.
19:00 – 21:30: GO SING Choir
Do you like singing? Do you like the choir? There is a great event for you: Go Sing Choir. You don’t have to be a member. You don’t have to do an audition. You don’t have to know the lyrics or to be able to read music notes. Just go there and join the practice. The event is in Milla, Holzstr. 28. Starts at 19 but the doors open at 18:00 so you can take your place. Tickets cost 8 Euro. You can find the details and updates on the page of the event.
